Make your own Frame with Words Around It

Would you like to make a frame like this with your own message?

to start, Download the following file. It contains the components I used to make the rectangular frames, with the words around it.

The words that are there, can be changed to any phrase you want. The font in the components file was ravie. It helps if you choose a font where the letters are the same height and the widths of all the letters are about the same. Ravie isn't. If I choose one that isn't, I resize the letters to make them the same(though that means you have to type each on in separately!).
I found that the font TYE PALOON worked well as it is monospaced and used it on the close up of the First Christmas frame. The other font on the second first christmas frame(where she is smiling) was yesterday brk and is a little hard to read.

You need to size it to fit within the space of the frame provided(or just resize the whole frame larger!) I have it set up to be a 4 by 6 inch frame. If your picture needs to be oriented to by 6x4, rotate the whole thing, before you add your text. To make the vertical text, I just type in one letter, press enter, next letter, enter, etc.
Do you know the following inkscape shortcuts to help you weld and move letters around, once you have typed them in? Place cursor at end of word and repeatedly press

Alt LEFT ANGLE BRACKET Reduces spacing between all the letters in the phrase(making them closer together)

alt RIGHT ANGLE BRACKET increases spacing between all the letters in the phrase(making them further apart )

To move a letter "up", place cursor before the letter you want to move
    alt up arrow

    to move a letter down
place cursor before the letter you want to move
    alt down arrow

to move a single letter left or right
place cursor before the letter you want to move
alt left arrow or alt right arrow

These commands are useful for when you just want to make a title and weld the letters together(path...UNION in inkscape)

Once you have the phrase you want to move it to the appropriate place on the frame template I provide in the file. If it is the phrase for the top, move the phrase so it is touching the inner frame and the frame border piece. Select the phrase and the inner frame border, select PATH...UNION. Does it look like every letter is connected at the bottom to the inner frame? If not, Undo. Then move the phrase slightly and try again. Now select the phrase and the top border and do path...union. Once again, check that the result is as you wanted. It is hard to go back later, without having to do all the steps again. Change your view to outline to get a good look. Do this for the phrases for the sides and bottom of your frame too. You could make Happy Birthday or anything you want.

I can't wait for you to try it! It is a quick way to get a professional, customized frame for you picture, and you only have to glue on ONE PIECE! That is the part I like! Please leave me a comment if you try it and have good results! If you have trouble, let me know so I can change the instructions slightly!
