Circle Frames with Words in Them

Today I decided to create an easy way for you to make circle frames with words in them. I had done it myself in the past, and had trouble getting the union command to work. I've figured out that you have to "COMBINE" the two circles in the middle and the then the two "outer circles". Type in your phrase, trying to size it so that it is about the right height as the space between the outer and inner circles. Text< Then weld your letters to the inner two circles using the path union command. Weld your letters to your outer circle group with the path union command.

Open it in inkscape, and it should look like this.

You can change the phrase HAPPY NEW YEAR to any you want. The font size was 288 and the font used is Tye Paloon.
Select text and select inner circle, outer ring. Select text...put text on path.

This will put your text on the circle; Now you need to weld it. select TEXT and the select path...object to path.

You may have to adjust the text size or the circle size to make sure the circle is touching all the text bottoms. Select Path...union. Check your result. If all the text didnt weld onto the cirlce, it wasn't touching there. Click undo and try again after moving or resizing the text or circle. Did you know if you select somthing you can use the up and down and left and right arrows to move it one pixel at a time? This comes in handy here.

Next you have to weld the text to the outer circle. Same as when doing the inner circle, you may have to adjust things slightly to make sure it is touching the outer circle. Select the outer circle and the text, the select path....union.

Check the result to make sure the words welded to the circle everywhere. If not, undo, adjust, repeat the union. I rotated the whole image so you can see how it comes out.
