Vilas County Snowmobile Trails Open Friday, December 10!

These photos were taken Thursday evening at Black Bear Lodge as snow accummulated throughout the day. We received more overnight, totalling about 5-6 inches of new snowfall in the 24 hour period. Vilas County trails, including the St Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club trails, will officially open today at 1pm!





A huge winter storm is heading our way this weekend with varied forecasts from 6-12 inches expected to fall Saturday! With the cold temps we have had and more cold temps in the forecast for next week, we are very enthusiastic about the winter snowmobile season ahead. The Farmer's Almanac is also in our favor with a "cold and very snowy" outlook for Wisconsin this winter.

Vilas County Snowmobile Trails to Open!

The Vilas County Snowmobile Club Alliance has just announced that our snowmobile trails can and will open on December 10, 2010, weather permitting. We have had several snow squalls move through within the last 10 days with below freezing temperatures making for great trail preparation. The lakes are mostly iced over but not yet safe to ride on; cold weather is thickening the ice daily. Fabulous Winter Wedding overlooking Little St Germain Lake

This past weekend snowmobilers exchanged marriage vows at a beautiful outdoor wedding right on the grounds at Black Bear Lodge in St. Germain, WI! Beautiful blue skies, tall pines and the ice-covered lake were the backdrop for the marriage ceremony which was officiated by Rev. Walter Geist. The groom and wedding party arrived to the ceremony by snowmobile while the bride and her dad approached by horse-drawn carriage. Watch this video as the winter wedding unfolded!

Classic Sled Roundup - Huge Success!

Snowmobile enthusiasts from all around congregated right here in St. Germain over the holiday weekend. On Sunday, May 24, a tremendous display of vintage and antique sleds were found plus a huge snowmobile swap meet and food was offered by the Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club.



The Classic Sled Roundup was presented by Arctic Cat and the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame (which is right here in St. Germain, WI!) Click for more info.

Happy New Year's!

It's New Year's Day and the sun is out for the first time in over a week.


The blue sky with heavy snow is really a beautiful sight!


Many area visitors have returned home after the holidays and our local groomers will have an easier time keeping the trails smooth with less traffic going forward.

Trails to Open Soon!

The snowmobile trails are scheduled to open at 8am on Wednesday, December 12! We have received light snow since our big storm last weekend, and the temperatures have been very low, and therefore helping to keep the snow we do have sticking around. The trail reports are saying at this time to only go on lakes that have been marked. For you ice-anglers, there have been a few anglers spotted on the lakes. But we encourage you to still proceed with caution if going out onto the ice. The Bo-Boen groomers have been through our resort, and the trails are looking good! So continue to think snow!
